Are you a successful person and you like helping people? Perhaps you might want to try becoming a personal mentor. Although mentoring requires great responsibility, it can be a very rewarding experience.
If you can see yourself sharing your knowledge and skills to someone, then personal mentoring might be the right calling for you. To become a personal mentor, there are a few steps that you need to do.
Do a self-evaluation
Determine your area of expertise. Are you an experienced salesperson? Then perhaps you can help people develop the proper skills to succeed in sales. Another part of self-evaluation is determining if you have the right motivation to mentor people. Do you enjoy sharing your knowledge? Ask yourself some questions.
Seek Training
Look for accredited schools that offer training courses that develop mentoring skills. Aside from learning how to effectively mentor others, you will know how it is to be mentored or trained first hand.
Associate with relevant organizations
Contact an organization that focuses on mentoring, such as Big Brother Big Sister. You will learn a lot from them plus you get to be accredited as a volunteer mentor if you choose to.
Mentoring will give you the kind of satisfaction that no amount of money can buy. It may not offer much, but seeing people’s lives change through the knowledge that you share is already a great reward.

Life coaching is more than just business consulting or counseling. It involves addressing personal and professional conditions, and choosing a course of action to transform your life into the way you wanted it to be. In finding a life coach, it’s important to consider some things.
- Certification
- Life coaching require a very specific set of skills. It is a profession that is backed by a foundation of training from qualified institutions. Years of training from some other field, say, psychology, is not enough to be qualified as a life coach. If you want to have your own life coach, make sure that you are hiring someone who has formal training and qualifications.
- References
- You’d know that a life coach would be effective in introducing significant changes in your life if he has already done this before with other satisfied and happy clients. His references themselves will be his sort of calling card.
- Personality
- Avail of a sample session if there is one being offered. Before hiring a potential life coach, it is important to gauge how well the two of you will be working together. You must be comfortable with him to be able to develop the trust needed in establishing successful coaching.
